Chinese Court Orders Malaysia Airlines to Pay Compensation Over Missing Flight MH370
A court in Beijing has ordered Malaysia Airlines to pay the families of eight passengers who perished onboard the doomed flight MH370 compensation of 2.9 million yuan ($410,240) each, according to Chinese state media.
Chaoyang District People’s Court on Friday ordered the defendants to compensate the plaintiffs in line with the Montreal Convention and relevant Chinese laws, Xinhua reported yesterday. The rulings pertained to eight separate cases involving passengers on the doomed Malaysia Airlines flight, which disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. The compensation “covers damages, funeral expenses, emotional distress damages, other losses and related costs,” Xinhua added.
