Oilers’ Connor McDavid Says Edmonton ‘Has Taken A Step Back’ Following First-Round Elimination From Playoffs

Could we be witnessing the beginning of the end for Connor McDavid in Edmonton?

McDavid and his Edmonton Oilers were recently eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and it’s not just that they were bounced, but it came much earlier than anticipated with the franchise suffering a first-round exit to the Anaheim Ducks.

Now while that in itself is heartbreaking for Oilers fans, they’re surely a lot more stressed out now, and that’s because of what McDavid said after the fact regarding the state of the organization.

As we all know, prior to this season, Edmonton punched a berth into the Stanley Cup Finals for two consecutive playoffs, losing each one to my beloved Florida Panthers.

McDavid went on to sign a two-year, $25 million contract (essentially a pay cut) with the Oilers, which is seemingly a deal to give the franchise time to prove........
