My 10 invaluable lessons for life and business

One of my favorite ambitions is to “Own a Moment in Time.” Now, as I proudly announce the completion of my three-year term as a co-president and chief revenue officer at Legends, following the sale of 4Front, I can own a moment in time personally to reflect on lessons that helped me succeed in sports business and life.

I’m reminded of my time writing a book with Roland Hemond, chronicling inspirational stories from Baseball Hall of Famers, including Willie Mays, titled “Dugout Wisdom.” I shared with Willie that I was “living the dream” during the book tour. He chuckled and challenged me to do better: “After you live the dream, you need to fulfill the dream and then share the dream.”

My goal here is to channel Willie’s advice and share 10 invaluable life and business lessons.

While still in college, I met Roger Valdiserri, Notre Dame sports marketing icon. I was mesmerized by Roger’s authentic connections. I asked, “How do you know all these people?” His reply: “In a world where so many people network for networking’s sake, I’ve strived to build personal relationships.” His advice not only helped me build relationships with people such as Joe Castiglione and Chris Plonsky, but also directly led to my first job at Team Marketing Report.
