THE biggest mission for this Labour government is growth.

You might hear politicians use that word a lot and wonder what it really means for your family and your community.

When I talk about growth, I’m talking about new, well-paid jobs in your area, investment in your public services and better living standards for all of us.

Our country has great economic potential and we are already world leaders in certain areas of science and technology.

But that growth may feel a lot closer if you’re living in London or the South East.

But just because it has felt that way in the past, I do not accept it has to stay that way forever.

In January, I talked in Parliament about the historic underinvestment in Welsh railways and questioned the Secretary of State for Wales about the government’s plans to right those wrongs.
