Soon after I came to live and work in Cardiff the pop band Steps hit the big time.

In January 1999 their cover of the Bee Gees’ Tragedy topped the charts, even though the record had already hit number two in November 1998 (it was a double A-side release, featuring also Heartbeat).

The infectious pop of Claire, Faye, ‘H’, Lee and Lisa became a soundtrack of my early years in Cardiff.

Thus it felt entirely appropriate that I saw the show Here and Now (featuring their songs but not them) in Cardiff.

I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would the show do justice to their legacy?
