Child sexual exploitation is a heinous crime and it has been harrowing reading about and listening to details of the sickening abuse inflicted on the victims recently.

It is the victims’ stories and bravery in speaking out which really compelled me to take part in a recent debate in the Welsh Parliament calling for an independent inquiry into child sexual exploitation to be commissioned.

We need to get a clearer picture of the scale of this evil crime here in Wales if we are to take robust steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
