It is an honour to take part in the judging panel of UNISON’s 2025 Local Service Champions Awards. The awards are part of celebrating local government workers as the everyday heroes they are, with the winners being announced in June.

Local government staff across the UK go above and beyond the call of duty to keep local services going, yet their efforts are often overlooked. We depend upon them to provide critical services which hold our communities together. After all, the local services that we all rely on are the sum total of their efforts.
