TV star Ferne McCann said an accident that left her with an ice skate “stuck in my leg” at seven years old hasn’t put her off as she is part of this year’s Dancing On Ice series.

The 34-year-old said she will be “leaning into nervousness” on the ITV skating show where she is partnered with American professional skater Brendyn Hatfield.

Speaking about the accident, she told the PA news agency: “I actually did have an ice skating party… when I was about seven and my only experience was that an ice skate got stuck in my leg, so some boy was like kicking the ice.

“But it didn’t put me off, because here I am, but apart from that, (I) could get round (the ice), but not much experience to this level.”
