Newport is home to the UK’s semiconductor industry, and it was a pleasure joining the First Minister on a visit to Vishay Newport Wafer Fab.

It was fantastic to catch up with members of the Staff Association who worked tirelessly during recent years of uncertainty. Hearing about the company’s exciting future plans, it is clear that Newport’s semi-conductor cluster is driving innovation and creating high-value jobs for local people.

During my visit to Vishay, I met a staff member who completed his Welsh Government-funded apprenticeship at the Fab.
