New Netflix romantic comedy films at Fisherman's Wharf and across SF

Fisherman’s Wharf may be on the verge of a major transformation, but the San Francisco tourist destination is also biding its time with a little movie magic.
Last week, camera crews and SFMTA staff swarmed the Pier 39 carousel overlooking the waterfront as actors Zoey Deutch (who starred opposite Glen Powell in the 2018 romantic comedy “Set it Up”) and Nick Robinson (of the 2020 Hulu miniseries “A Teacher”) hopped on for a ride.

Mikayla Carter, a spokesperson for Film SF, confirmed with SFGATE in an email that the film commission was overseeing a project that shot for two days throughout the city, including other scenic spots like Golden Gate Park, Union Square and the Palace of Fine Arts. Carter did not reveal the name of the project or when production would wrap. But according to IMDb, both Deutch and Robinson are about to star in the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy “Voicemails for Isabelle,” which will likely hit the streaming service in a year or two.
Production for the film written and directed by Leah McKendrick (“Scrambled”) kicked off in Vancouver at the beginning of July,........
