Gilberts: Chatham-Kent Heritage Network unveiling final plaques celebrating community

Chatham-Kent Heritage Network will unveil final four plaques in next month, bringing the total to 30 that celebrate various communities.

During the next few weeks will see the unveiling of four new Chatham-Kent Heritage Network plaques. On Thanksgiving weekend, when the network unveils one in Dawn Mills, it will be the last of the plaques that are part of this initiative. During the past four years, the network has installed 30 plaques around our municipality. We want to applaud the efforts of the (mostly) volunteer historians who have been presenting and preserving heritage in all the communities that make up Chatham-Kent for many years.

Back November 2022, when the heritage network agreed to work with Mayor Darrin Canniff on a plaquing project, we didn’t imagine they would end up with 30  compelling plaques with many images and an attractive design.
