Domestic violence occurs all over the world within every type of community. As a career prosecutor, I have dedicated the last 30 years to seeking justice for these victims and holding perpetrators accountable. Yet one of the biggest challenges involved in this area is detection. According to research, there are some types of populations and geographic areas that are more likely to conceal ongoing abuse. Because within relationships of physical abuse, the risk of serious injury or death can increase over time, the goal is to detect and intervene sooner rather than later.
