Few words are more painful for a parent to hear. Even if those exact words never leave your adult child's lips or are never sent via text, many parents hear a close version of the message: "It's your fault that I am struggling." For the many parents (who are, for sure, not perfect) who have spent years living, sacrificing, worrying, and trying their best, the accusation can feel very emotionally overwhelming.
