The invisible string theory is the belief that an unseen "string" connects you to someone somewhere.

The belief, then, is that over time and space, this string will eventually pull the two of you to be together.

Believing this can help you get through tough times in your dating journey and help you be more relaxed.

However, don't let this belief give away too much agency in your life and keep you with the wrong person.

You could say that this so-called “invisible string theory” has become quite visible on social media. A seemingly obvious question, though, is whether influencers advancing this theory have much science to back it up or are—you know—just stringing you along. However, believe it or not, whether this theory is actually true may not really matter if you use it to string together the right approach to dating.

What Is the “Invisible String Theory”

The invisible string theory is the belief that you are somehow connected to someone else somewhere in the world through some kind of an unseen “string.” And that over time and space, this string or force will eventually pull the two of you to be together—regardless of what may seemingly stand in the way. In other words, you are destined to be with this person.

Consider this a variation of the you’re-meant-to-be-with-a-particular-person and everything-happens-for-a-reason beliefs that emerged long before the days of social media influencers.
