Have I got a golfing society for you
I am a big fan of the idea of a society; as in secret society, Dead Poet’s Society, The Knights Templar, and so on. A small group of people with a shared history, a shared passion or expertise, and perhaps even a few shared secrets.
At last check I am a member in good standing of three special interest societies. None are secret, although some may be unknown to you, but all are golf-related.
The Broken Tee Society (BTS) is a subsection of subscribers of The Golfer’s Journal, a high quality, ad-free quarterly publication that speaks directly and intimately to the heart and soul of a golf nerd such as myself. The BTS organizes trips to hidden gem golf courses that one might never otherwise have a chance to experience.
The Auburn Hill Society is a group of members at my golf club that have pledged a gift to the club in their will. It is so named for the drumlin that forms the backbone and most interesting sloped section of our course’s........
