Love letter to the hidden, forgotten and erased
The Art Gallery of Peterborough (AGP) presents the exhibition “Museum of Closetry,” as well as opportunities this week to meet the artist Dr. Spencer J. Harrison and the curator Lucas Azevedo Cabral.
The “Museum of Closetry” is described as a love letter to the hidden, forgotten, and erased. Using found objects and interpretive labels, storytelling and historical context, the artist and curator create a fictional museum that imagines queer history as abundant and visible.
“The ‘Museum of Closetry,’” explains the AGP website, “invites viewers to reflect on what it means to belong, to remember, and to make space for the stories that history has tried to hide.”
