Young spellers unite at upcoming Rotary Club of Peterborough Spelling Bee
The 11th annual Rotary Club of Peterborough Spelling Bee will take place on Saturday, May 3 in the Whetung Theatre at Fleming College’s Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr., from 9 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m.
“Over 30 local schools including home school children will be sending representatives,” says Catherine Hanrahan, Spelling Bee Committee past chair. “More than 4,000 local students will participate in their school’s mini-Spelling Bee with the top two spellers in each division from each school competing in the final bee. The event will be recorded for broadcast on YourTV and the top spellers in each category, grades 4 to 6 and grades 7 to 8, will win prizes such as bikes from Canadian Tire and local realtor Rebecca Quinn, time at Trent Excalibur Camp, time at Camp Kawartha, classes at the Art School of Peterborough, laser tag parties at Zap Attack Laser Tag and more.”
