The Peterborough County Agricultural Wall of Fame committee hosted its 2026 induction ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 23 in the Agricultural Heritage Building at Lang Pioneer Village and Museum in Keene.

This was the 10th initiation of members for the Wall of Fame since it was formed in 2015. The purpose of the Wall of Fame is to recognize those individuals and couples from Peterborough County who have made outstanding contributions to the agricultural industry. 

The four nominees this year, (three couples and one individual) have each excelled in the agriculture or agri-food industry. The 2026 inductees are Carolyn and the late David Brackenridge, the honourable Elmer Buchanan, E.C.O., Julia and Frank Hoftyzer and Mona and the late Kenneth Humphries.

A nearly overflowing crowd gathered in the Heritage Building Hall in support of the inductees. Opening words of welcome came from Hall of Fame Chair Carolyn Doris and Peterborough County Warden Bonnie Clark who remarked on the vital roll agricultural plays in the economy, culture and heritage of the county and how it is the hard-working farm families that are at the heart of that success in helping to build the strong communities that make up Peterborough County.

The warden ended with thanks to the Wall of Fame committee members for their work and dedication and offered congratulations to all the nominees thanking them for their incredible contributions to agriculture in the county.

Carolyn and the late David Brackenridge (2023) of Millbrook

Carolyn, raised in Lambton County, and David of Cavan Township, both grew up on farms. They married in 1968, purchased their Millbrook farm, and built a farrow-to-finish sow barn. In 1980, they opened the first of three livestock feed dealerships. As the second and third generations joined their Squirrel Creek Farms operation, their business shifted to focus on maple syrup equipment sales, cash cropping and grain elevators.
