Throw an axe, send a kid to camp
Send a Kid to Camp AXE-travaganza, presented by The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation in partnership with Herod Financial Services, happens Friday, May 1 at the Peterborough Axe Club, and ticket are now available.
This fundraising event, supported by AON Inc., Kawartha Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (KOMFS), Terra Firm Construction, Camp Kawartha and Kawartha Gymnastics, raises funds to help provide a summer camp experience for up to 150 children involved with the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society.
“This event is our largest fundraiser of the year and plays a vital role in helping us send children to summer camp,” said Carrie Truman, executive director of the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation. “Camp provides children involved with the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society the opportunity to build self-esteem and confidence, form meaningful connections, and spend time just being a kid.”
Tickets cost $50 per person or $500 per lane. Two axe-throwing time slots are offered, 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. and 8 until 10 p.m. To purchase your ticket online visit khcas.on.ca.
Since the foundation was established in 1983, it has sent over 5,740 kids to summer camp. This year’s goal is to help 150 children attend camp this summer.
The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation is dedicated to working in collaboration with donors and the community to raise funds for essential items and life enriching experiences that foster feelings of inclusion and belonging, for children, youth, and families involved with the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society. This includes dance and music lessons, sports activities, baby safety items, school backpacks, summer camp, the holiday gift-giving program, and bursary support for post-secondary education.
