Kids in grades 4 through 6 can help raise money for Habitat for Humanity Peterborough and the Kawartha Region and help local families achieve affordable home ownership, through the Meaning of Home contest. Members of the McAuley Real Estate Group at Bowes & Cocks Ltd. Brokerage are the Local Meaning of Home Ambassadors this year.

The contest is free, and to enter kids just need to write a short story or poem about what “home” means to them.

The best part? For every entry, $10 is donated to Habitat for Humanity to support homebuilding right here in our community.

The contest is a unique and meaningful way to get children involved in creative writing and giving back to their community. Entries can be made by teachers or parents. Individual entries should be between 50 and 300 words and can be in English or French and submitted online, by mail, or by email during the contest period, which ends Feb. 20.

Grand prize winners receive a $30,000 grant for their local Habitat and runner-up winners receive $10,000 for their local Habitat, plus all winners receive a tablet for themselves and a pizza party for their class.
