Kids can explore science and nature with new TRACKS activity books
TRACKS (Trent Aboriginal Cultural Knowledge and Science) Youth Program is once again offering its Seasonal Activity Books, geared to kids ages six to 12. Each book has the theme of a specific time of year with a focus on integrated sciences. They contain a variety of pen-to-paper activities as well as invitations to learn on the land. Younger kids may need some help from an adult.
Founded in 2010, TRACKS is hosted by Trent University within the Indigenous Environmental Studies and Sciences Program (IESS) and operates in partnership with founding partner organization Kawartha World Issues Centre and the First Peoples House of Learning. It offers land-based youth programming, including school workshops and camp programs, that braid multiple scientific approaches while centring Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
