79 years: Quaid’s unfinished vision

IT is incumbent, on each one of us, to protect MAJ’s legacy and restore his vision of a modern democratic welfare state for all, irrespective of their faith, ethnicity or origin. Pakistan was never meant to be a theocratic state by its Founding Fathers. MAJ supported the Khilafat Movement and opposed oppression by Allied forces after WW1. He believed that “Islam came in the world to establish democracy, to safeguard the rights of the oppressed”. Unfortunately, MAJ died in 1948 and those who succeeded him, were captive to their own agendas. They delayed the formation of a Constitution which he had stressed........
