Year of mayhem in KP

The year 2025 was certainly the most turbulent and violent period in KP’s recent history.

A heavy toll was inflicted by militancy on civilians and security forces. Considerable infrastructure was destroyed and tension with Afghanistan escalated as most TTP attacks came from across the border in Afghanistan. This left communities in various parts of KP traumatized, as the daily lives were disrupted and life made insecure.

The province recorded over 1,558 terror incidents in 2025. Most of the attacks were carried out by TTP militants coming from across the border in Afghanistan. According to authentic sources, many Afghan fighters were present in these cross- border raids and sabotage activities. These assaults led to the death of 223 civilians and serious injuries to about 570 others. Several major attacks took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 2025. On March 4, two suicide car bombings in Bannu killed 12 civilians, including seven children and wounding 30 others. Nearby buildings and a mosque were destroyed. On the 28th of June 2025 a suicide car bombing in North Waziristan targeted a military vehicle. About 14 soldiers were martyred, while more than 25 troops and civilians were wounded. On December 19 militants carried out a coordinated suicide bombing and armed attack on a military post again in North Waziristan killing four soldier and injuring at least 15 civilians. Several houses and a mosque were also damaged in this assault. Towards the end of the year in December, suspected militants in Bajor shot dead a policeman acting........
