Reform UK leader Nigel Farage visited Ashfield on Wednesday (April 9) ahead of the local elections on May 1. The party approached Nottinghamshire Live ahead of the visit with an opinion piece from Mr Farage.

We made it clear that we would only publish the piece if we were also given the chance to interview Mr Farage, which was agreed. This situation is one we would accommodate for any other party leaders who may approach us ahead of the elections.

Every council across the country, including Nottinghamshire County Council, has been run into the ground by either Labour, Conservative or Lib Dem administrations.
