Norfolk on brink of drought after 'prolonged dry weather'

The warning has been announced by the National Drought Group, which has placed East Anglia in a state of "prolonged dry weather" - one step below an official drought declaration.

It comes amid the third heatwave of the year and a hosepipe ban imposed by Anglian Water across the region.

The National Drought Group, which includes the Met Office, the National Farmers' Union, water companies and other experts, announced the warning today (Wednesday, July 22).
