Inquest into death of homeless man can proceed after trio convicted of killing him

Assistant coroner Robin Weyell confirmed that the hearing into the death of Matthew Griggs will now begin on July 16 this year.

The move follows the conclusion of a trial at Norwich Crown Court earlier this month, where three men were found guilty of manslaughter over the 38-year-old’s death.

John McDonnell, 44, Daniel Carroll, 29, and Jonathan Bristow, 46, were convicted after jurors heard they attacked Mr Griggs twice within the space of an hour on September 19, 2023.
