Discussions under way for new shop to replace major fashion brand in Norwich
The site of the former River Island store in Chantry Place is now vacant after the brand served its final customers on April 11.
Last summer, the chain announced a raft of nationwide closures as part of a restructuring plan following a pre-tax loss of £32.3m in 2024.
More than 30 other River Island stores in the country closed their doors at the start of the year.
Jo Bates, general manager of Chantry Place: “We are already having conversations with brands regarding the former River Island unit and hope to bring you a further update over the next few months.”
Earlier this month, the Claire's store in Chantry Place also closed amid financial difficulties for the business.
It had agreed to sell 156 shops to investment group Modella Capital, securing around 1,000 jobs.
However, the sale only saved just over half of the chain's 300 outlets around the UK and Ireland, with 145 branches not included in the deal.
