In a statement delivered at an inquest for her son, Tyrone Ward, Maria Ward said the county's mental health services had "ignored the signs" that led to his death.

Mr Ward's body was found by police officers at the beauty spot in Norwich at around 4am on April 27, 2023.

He had left his house in Salhouse Road, Sprowston, just after midnight, prompting a police search featuring drones and sniffer dogs.

His mother raised the alarm after discovering he was missing, and later said she had seen CCTV footage of him leaving the property carrying a small step ladder.

The inquest heard that Mr Ward’s death followed years of mental health issues.

Mrs Ward told the hearing at Norwich Coroner's Court he was “obsessed” with death and “had an addiction to taking his own life”.
