Oichi was launched by sisters Thorraya, Shifa and Khalila Mears who used to enjoy their mum's iteration of the good-for-your-gut drink when they were children.

During the lockdown, the trio experimented with kombucha and decided there was "space to make the drink into a delicious alcohol alternative".
