The team at St Giles House promise to bring "alfresco café dining and the south of France to our little sun trap in the corner of Norwich".

Edward Barker, head chef at the grade II listed hotel, said: "The terrace will be a continuation of all the public spaces we have already got.

"There is no fixed formality to what we will be doing on there, we want people to feel completely relaxed."

The hotel is aiming to open the new space in time for the first May bank holiday, if the weather plays ball.

With St Giles House offering French-inspired food and drink, it will launch a Provence rosé themed dinner to celebrate the opening on May 22.........
