Pupils at Lionwood Infant School, along with their parents, walked from the One Stop shop in Quebec Road to the gates of the school in Telegraph Lane to highlight the issue.

Parent Claire Brook-Scott said: "On the joint walk, my daughter almost got hit by a car reversing on to the pavement.

"The area around the school is simply not safe for children walking to school.

"More needs to be done and fast, before there's a serious incident."
