City Hall writes off £1m repair works after tenant based 190 miles away goes bust
Norwich City Council bought three industrial units in Telford, Shropshire, five years ago to bring in extra funds through rent charges.
Having purchased the properties for more than £14m, the authority has now agreed to spend another £2m on refurbishment to increase their value.
Despite its staunch defence of the investment, the council has revealed most of these costs have arisen from one of its previous tenants going bust and leaving behind a mess.
