City Hall to protect Norwich's only ancient woodland against repeated floods

Much of Lion Wood in Thorpe St Andrew is in "poor condition", according to the authority, due to increasingly frequent rains which are carving deep grooves in the earth.

Because the 22-acre wood runs downhill toward the River Yare, water rushes down the slopes, damaging the path and flooding nearby roads, including Wellesley South and Yarmouth Road.
