Ex-Aviva manager dies after dramatic weight loss during brief respite care home stay
Peter Howard, from Drayton, had only been due to stay at Ailwyn Hall Care Home, in Honingham, for two weeks.
But his condition worsened while he was there and he became too ill to leave. He died four weeks after being admitted.
An inquest into his death, held in Norwich this week, heard the retired Aviva manager had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2022.
Caroline Page, his partner's daughter, told the hearing she had not approved of the decision to send Mr Howard for respite care.

Until his admission to Ailwyn Hall, he had been receiving three daily visits from home carers and attended a dementia day centre three days a week where he “ate well and was looked after”.
Ms Page, who was also a carer to Mr Howard, said: “His social worker decided Peter should have a two-week respite stay in a residential facility.
“This was against Peter’s and my wishes and Peter had expressed a strong desire to stay in his own home. This could have been possible as he was able to self-fund 24-hour daycare.”
