Kay Mason Billig, leader of the Conservatives at County Hall, has criticised the recruitment process to find a replacement for Tom McCabe, who left the role suddenly in June.

She and Brian Watkins, leader of the Liberal Democrats at Norfolk County Council, argue the task is being carried out with "extreme haste".

Both Ms Mason Billig and Mr Watkins argue there has been little time to prepare for the interviews for candidates, saying they only found out on Thursday that they will be taking place next Tuesday.

Ms Mason Billig argues the employment committee, which she sits on, should have been given the opportunity to create a shortlist of candidates for the role.

She believes Reform has failed to comply with part of the county council’s constitution by not allowing this to happen.
