Decoding silent heart attacks: A deadly event that could kill you without a warning

New Delhi: When we think of a heart attack, thoughts of crushing chest pain, breathlessness, and some dramatic collapses often strike our minds. But the most dangerous heart attack is considered the one that arrives unnoticed. Silent heart attacks or silent myocardial infarctions (SMIs), these cardiac problems usually lack the alarm bells, making them more deadly.

Dr. Ankesh Aggarwal, Cardiologist, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Delhi said, “The real danger of the silent heart attacks lies in its ability to occur at an unpredictable time. Patients don’t consult or refer to doctors because some typical symptoms, like severe chest pain, are absent in the case of silent heart attacks. As a result, the heart experiences very prolonged damage that could have been prevented before.
