Uproar in Karnataka Assembly as Governor walks out without reading customary speech | What's the controversy

New Delhi: A huge pandemonium was witnessed at the Karnataka state Assembly on Thursday after Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot refused to read out the customary address drafted by the Congress-led state government, allegedly over a couple of sentences critical of the VB-G RAM (G) Act. Gehlot walked out of the Assembly in yet another political face-off between Governor and the Congress-led government in a non-BJP ruled state.

Gehlot arrived at Vidhana Soudha, the seat of state legislature and secretariat, for the joint session of the state legislature and was received by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil.
