Mandhana-Rawal record stand lift India into Women's World Cup semis
New Delhi: Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal’s record partnership propelled India to the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup with a 53 runs (DLS method) of New Zealand in a rain-affected match in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.
Mandhana (105) and Rawal (122) lifted India to a mammoth 340 for three, their highest World Cup score, as a 90-minute delay due to a rain break forced the match to be truncated to 49 overs per side.
Further rain meant New Zealand were set a target of 325 in 44 overs after which they managed 271/8.
India were under pressure to win after three successive losses and responded by scoring the highest total in this edition of the tournament so far.
Mandhana’s third World Cup ton (105), and first of this edition, and Rawal’s maiden........
