Ballari: The city of Ballari in Karnataka witnessed intense political violence on Thursday after a dispute over a banner escalated into stone-pelting, police firing and the death of a Congress worker, triggering tension across the city. Ballari SP said that the bullet was fired from a private weapon.

The clash began over the installation of a large banner ahead of the unveiling of a Valmiki statue near the residence of Gangavati MLA Gali Janardhana Reddy. According to officials, the banner was put up on a public road outside his house. Janardhana Reddy objected to its placement and asked for it to be removed.

Supporters of Ballari City MLA Nara Bharath Reddy claimed the banner was installed on a public road. Janardhana Reddy’s supporters allegedly removed........
