Delhi is likely to witness a cloudy day with light rain, drizzle and thunderstorms today (March 31), according to the India Meteorological Department. New Delhi: The national capital is set to experience a generally cloudy sky on March 31, with a spell of very light rain or drizzle expected during the afternoon or evening, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph may occur at isolated places across the city.
The maximum temperature is likely to hover between 32 and 34 degrees, while the minimum temperature is expected to settle between 17 and 19 degrees.
Winds are expected to shift through the day, blowing from the southeast at 5 to 10 kmph in the morning, turning northerly by afternoon and becoming northeasterly at 10 to 15 kmph later.
The highest maximum temperature in northwest India was recorded at 41.2 degrees in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, while the lowest minimum temperature was 15.0 degrees in Gurdaspur, Punjab.
Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 187 at 6 am, placing it in the ‘moderate’ category, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
As per CPCB standards, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good. An AQI ranging from 51 to 100 falls under the satisfactory category. Levels between 101 and 200 are classified as moderate. An AQI of 201 to 300 is considered poor. When the AQI ranges from 301 to 400, it is categorised as very poor. Any AQI between 401 and 500 is classified as severe.
