Lokayukta’s relief to Siddaramaiah in MUDA case, is CM chair secure for now?

New Delhi: It is a big relief for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. With no clear evidence of corruption against him or his wife Parvathi, the Lokayukta police investigating the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case is set to file a closure report in the matter. Ever since the case was filed against the chief minister and his wife in September 2024, there has been an ongoing political slugfest between the ruling Congress and BJP over the issue. However, a major reprieve has come Siddaramaiah’s way now.

The case relates to compensatory sites (14 plots) that were allotted to Siddaramaiah’s wife in lieu of MUDA acquiring agricultural land from her. The allegations are that the sites given to Parvathi were of much higher market value (around 50 crores) than she actually deserved against her land. The MUDA had given plots to CM’s wife under a 50:50 ratio scheme to compensate for 3.16 acres of land that it acquired.

It is also alleged that Parvathi had no legal title over the acquired land in Kasare village of Mysore taluk. Her defence was that the land belonged to her brother and he had gifted her.........
