The curious case of GameKraft

New Delhi: As a business journalist/editor who has lived through the scams of Harshad Mehta, Ramalinga Raju, Nirav Modi/Mehul Choksi, and Byju Raveendran, I thought I had seen it all.

I thought wrong.

The recent reports of a chief financial officer (CFO) gaming his gaming company for four long years without anyone getting a whiff of it is truly stunning for its brazenness and utter lack of corporate overnight.

In fact, if one reads the media reports, then it becomes clear that there was failure on all counts: corporate governance, audit, banking, and even broking.

Let’s look at these failures one by one:

Corporate Governance: Here is the most laughable part of the story. GameKraft had no idea that its CFO, Ramesh Prabhu, was helping himself to company money to punt on F&O trades UNTIL he himself sent a confessional email on March 5 this year. After four years of conning the system,........
