Retail inflation hits record low of 0.25 per cent in October after GST cuts
New Delhi: India’s retail inflation dropped sharply to a historic low of 0.25 per cent in October 2025. This comes after a reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on nearly 380 mass consumption items and a steep fall in food prices, according to data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
This marks the lowest inflation level since the new CPI series (base year 2012) began in January 2014. Retail inflation stood at 1.44 per cent in September and 6.21 per cent in October 2024, showing a steep year-on-year decline.
