MeitY eyes faster rollout of data retention and cross-border rules
New Delhi: India’s data protection rulebook could be moving into a faster lane. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is weighing a plan to sharply compress compliance timelines under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act Rules, 2025.
