India's Heritage Crown Shines Brighter: Seven new sites added to UNESCO's tentative list

New Delhi: India has once again demonstrated its commitment to preserving its extraordinary natural and cultural heritage on a global scale. In a momentous achievement, seven remarkable natural heritage sites across the country have been successfully added to UNESCO’s Tentative List of World Heritage Sites. This pivotal inclusion elevates India’s standing on the Tentative List from 62 to a remarkable 69 properties.

With this latest addition, India now boasts a total of 69 sites under UNESCO consideration, encompassing 49 cultural, 17 natural, and 3 mixed heritage properties. This important advancement highlights India’s relentless efforts to conserve and promote its invaluable natural and cultural treasures for generations to come.

According to the UNESCO protocol, inclusion in the Tentative List serves as the initial step for any site aiming for the prestigious World Heritage List.
