Who will be the new chairman of Tata Sons, is the most important question in the top echelons of India Inc. Tata Steel MD and CEO T V Narendran is being considered a frontrunner to succeed N Chandrasekaran, who will sign off in February 2027. However, a final decision is still pending.

Kolkata: With Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekharan hanging up his boots, the Tata empire needs a captain of perhaps the most diversified corporate team of the country. According to reports, Tata Steel MD and CEO TV Narendran is among the strongest contenders in the race to fill the vacuum that Chandrasekharan’s exit will create. Incumbent Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran will not seek reappointment after his term ends in February 2027. Obviously the final decision will depend on the board. Apart from Narendran, the board will consider other candidates too.
