Employee organisations are demanding an increase in the minimum basic salary as well as the number of units for calculating family size. If the family unit is increased from the current three to five and a fitment factor of 2.66 is assumed for the calculation, the minimum basic salary could increase from Rs 18,000 to about Rs 48,000.
