UPITS: Uttar Pradesh shaping a new economic geography
Now in its fourth edition, the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show is no longer merely an exhibition; it has become an annual manifesto of the state's economic aspirations. The state, once counted among examples of backwardness in the country's development story, is now inviting global buyers to its doorstep. This transformation is extraordinary and deserves the same level of attention.
The five-day Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS), held at India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida, has concluded. The stalls have been dismantled and buyers and sellers have returned to their respective destinations. The impact of the grandeur with which the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh organized the event, and the enthusiasm with which entrepreneurs and buyers participated, will be visible in the days to come. As a representative of the Indian Industries Association (IIA), I have no hesitation in saying that UPITS has taken a giant leap in the global market, and we now stand at a significant milestone on the economic landscape.
At the fair held from September 25 to 29, 2026, around 4,400 Memoranda of Understanding were signed, value at around 680 million dollars, or approximately Rs. 6,500 crore. Based on business inquiries, potential trade worth approximately Rs. 15,500 crore has been estimated. These figures are noteworthy, but an even stronger indicator lies in the activity behind them. According to official figures of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), 41,500 B2B meetings were held this time, more than 31% higher than the 31,650 meetings held last year.
