Tamil Nadu MPs unite against delimitation, demand protection of state’s 39 seats at Vijay-led meeting
Tamil Nadu MPs who attended an all-party meeting called by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay opposed any delimitation formula that could reduce the state’s representation in Parliament. They demanded that the Lok Sabha’s strength remain frozen at 543 seats, with 39 seats reserved for Tamil Nadu.
New Delhi: Tamil Nadu MPs on Saturday opposed any change in the state’s parliamentary representation during an all-party meeting called by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay to discuss the proposed delimitation exercise.
Around 21 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members attended the meeting at Kalaivanar Arangam. They primarily represented the Congress, VCK, CPI, CPI(M), MDMK and IUML.
