New Delhi: Premier League champions Arsenal made a brilliant start to the season by thrashing Manchester City 3-0 to win the Community Shield. Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard scored to help Mikel Arteta’s men make light work of Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea and lift their 18th Community Shield in Cardiff.

Arsenal needed only 23 seconds to go ahead in the game after left-back Calafiori finished an excellent move from Myles Lewis-Skelly. The Premier League champions doubled their lead in the 28th minute through Kai Havertz before Martin Odegaard scored at the start of the second half to make it 3-0 for Arsenal, ending any hopes of a City comeback.
